A Complicated Goodbye

REBECCA ADAMS HAS A PLAN FOR MURDER...IT JUST HAPPENS TO BE HER OWN.

While visiting the cemetery on the third    anniversary of her son death,
Rebecca Adams encounters an elderly woman who says she recognizes her and wants to help her.
Who is she?
What is her connection to Rebecca?

And does she really want to help the woman known as the Campbell River Baby Killer, or is she just out for gossip like the other small-town residents?

As if life isn’t hard enough for Rebecca after   losing her child and having people think she killed him, she is devastated to discover that her husband and best friend are having an affair.

As deadly secrets begin to come to light, she comes to the realization that Jake and Olivia deserve each other, and she’s better off without them in her life.

Now Rebecca must find the strength to turn the tables on the two people she used to love most and reclaim her life . . . before it’s too late.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE VICTIM IS DISCOVERED ALIVE?

On a cold and rainy day during the Dash for Cash race, Rebecca Adams is shot by her best friend, Olivia
Proctor and her  lifeless body is pushed over the cliff edge into the raging river below.
Her body is never found, and Proctor is left holding the smoking gun.

As the police investigate they discover that Adams has not only cleverly framed her best friend
and husband for her murder but has exposed their involvement in two others.

During a trip to the small community of Temple, BC, Deputy Alex Hiscox
believes he has seen the murder victim … it seems she is living under a false identity.

Perhaps their victim is not a victim after all. Now they just need to prove it!

The Conclusion...The Final Lie
The conclusion of the Rebecca Adams Murders is close!! Here’s an excerpt from the final instalment of the story:

Kaillie (Kay) Carruthers stood before the picturesque floor-to-ceiling windows that framed her tenth-floor executive office at the Westwind Hotel in Calgary, Alberta. It was late November, and she studied the people on the bustling streets down below. People went about their daily lives bundled against the frigid cold, unaware they were being watched.

She shivered. It wasn’t the arctic air from the paned glass that caused her to tremble, but an inner unrest. The ghost from her past rattled the bars of its cage, making her heart pound in her ears.

Amazon Reviews:
  • An entertaining review:
An entertaining read with a cliff hanger ending! Looking forward to the next instalment to find out how the main character makes out!

  • Great read!
One of those books you can’t put down!

  • I couldn't put this book down!
What a fantastic read this was! Ms Carmichael certainly knows how to develop each character and spin a fascinating tale! I could not put this book down as I became very invested in each character’s back-story and had to know what would transpire for each of them. I loved that she set the story in the quaint Vancouver Island town of Campbell River. In my mind that setting was a real bonus! Many plot twists kept it intriguing and piqued my interest right to the end. I highly recommend this read. You won’t be disappointed!

  • A fantastic read:
I thoroughly enjoyed the novel 'A Complicated Goodbye' by new author Laurie Carmichael. The main character Rebecca Adams not only survives but thrives as she faces her emotional journey through loss, betrayal and domestic violence. The author does an excellent job of making you hate the antagonist- Olivia Proctor. Hang on tight as the book takes many twists and turns.

  • A great read for a cold winter day:
A complicated goodbye is a superbly written mystery. This book kept me interested right to the end. The characters are very well developed.
