Laurie Carmichael worked for forty years as a nurse and retired the day before ‘COVID came to town’. So what does a dedicated nurse do? She returns to the field to provided vaccination in her community while completing her first novel.
In ‘A Complicated Goodbye’ she writes about courage and resilience. Her main character Rebecca Adams is a survivor of loss, betrayal and domestic violence. Laurie lives in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada with her husband, Daryl and has three adult kids- Dana, Mitchell and Liam. With her husband she also runs a home-based cookie business at the Okotoks Farmers’ Market called Charlotte’s Confectionaries—the inspiration for the name of the café where Rebecca and Olivia have their big blow-up in ‘A Complicated Goodbye’. Besides writing and baking Laurie also loves to quilt and enjoys hiking in the nearby Rocky Mountains. Laurie is currently finishing the sequel to 'A Complicated Goodbye'- 'Hiding Amongst the Clouds'. Stay tuned. |
