Laurie Carmichael worked for forty years as a nurse and retired the day before ‘COVID came to town’. Since her retirement she has written two novels....‘A Complicated Goodbye’ and the sequel Hiding Amongst the Clouds'.
In ‘A Complicated Goodbye’ she writes about courage and resilience. Her main character Rebecca Adams is a survivor of loss, betrayal and domestic violence.
Laurie lives in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada with her husband, Daryl and has three adult kids- Dana, Mitchell and Liam.
Laurie is the founder of the Foothills Writers Group- Okotoks and Surrounding area.
The sequel 'Hiding Amongst the Clouds' is now available for purchase.
The Longtail Brothers Misadventures. A New Home is Laurie's first children's novel under the name- Daisy Belle Kling.
Released November 2024.

The groups was established in May 2022 and meets every third Thursday at the Okotoks Public Library at 6:00 PM.
